According to Ms. Florence Anak Venster Ehol – Jurupulih Perubatan (UNIMAS):
• The activities in SI World are designed for individual sensory needs based on professional assessment and planning. • The setting of the equipment is child orientated, attractive and fun. • The flow of sensory integration therapy is compact, complete, fun and meaningful; this fulfills the child needs for each session. • The sensory integration therapeutic approach is both individual and group. • Graded activities are designed according to child level of cognitive and his/her readiness. • The activities also include self help skill in child, such as dressing his/her own shirt, put on socks and shoes, feeding and etc… • Disciplines and behaviour management are also applied in activities. |
Her opinion is endorsed by Puan Chen Siew Chin, the Penolong Kanan of SK Sri Kelana, Petaling Jaya:
Puan Chen Siew Chin said that she has been working for people with disabilities for 20 years and always facing difficulties in helping them. Due to parents’ referral, she visited SI World and decided to apply the method in the school. After a few months of effort, she found the pupils are easier to manage, less tantrum and more work is done. The feedback from the teachers and parents is also positive. She hopes that other government special class can also benefit from sensory integration therapy. |
Mr. Eric Chang Nyang Yang, the committee member of Kuching Autistic Association (formerly known as Sarawak Autistic Association) also shares the same opinion:
According to Mr. Eric Chang Nyang Yang, the association invited Mr. Wong (SI World) for a teachers training in 2005 and has started sensory integration therapy for about 2 years. Most children benefited from the method, especially those who are hyperactive, poor in body coordination, emotionally unstable and low functioning. Due to the effectiveness, Mr. Eric Chang always spends his personal time to promote the method and guide the parents with people with disabilities how to use the method to help their children at home. |
June Kuo (NTU, B.sc., OTR) opined that the sensory integration therapy organised by Mr. Wong is in a fun and systematic way. The therapy is easily conducted by well-trained therapists who are under professional supervision. Thus, the kids can get quality ‘sensory diet’ through the sessions to help them improve their abilities and to facilitate normal development.

I am ABDUL RASHID BIN A. LATIFF, a special education teacher since 1989. I have received twice for EXCELLENCE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER AWARD on Teacher‘s Day at National Level in year 2002 and 2009. I have worked in various schools in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. I was a Coordinator of a Special Education Programme in Putrajaya from 2003 until 2009.
In 2007 I was introduced to sensory integration therapy by SI World. I believed and very confident that this therapy will work wonderfully on special children. I managed to set up a well equipped sensory integration room at Sekolah Kebangsaan Putrajaya Presint 9(2) in 2008. This room can accommodate 5-8 pupils in one session. The room really works marvelously as the pupils shows tremendous improvement on their fine and gross motor skills and also their self esteem. We also find out that they can perform and concentrate more in the classroom. That really inspired the teachers to work more closely with the children. The school now is the benchmark for special education program in the country. I really hope every school with special education program in this country will have such a room for this marvelous THERAPY to happen. My advice to all schools with special education program is to think seriously to start to set up a sensory integration room for the best benefit for their special children in their schools. |
